When a leap of faith is needed

Human respecting and praying on sunset in the city background

I really feel compelled to write this post today. All I’m really going to be doing is sharing some thoughts on events leading up to the last few days in my life. It might be a difficult post to write, or perhaps the words will flow smoothly like a steam train’s smokestack with more than enough steam to carry it through at a gentle pace for a hundred miles or more. I say the post may be difficult to write because even at the best of times, I’m not the easiest girl to get along with and, depending on the friends or acquaintances I have around me, I do not share personal feelings easily. The good habits of decent people

Woman drinking water after training

What defines decency, some of you might be asking? This in an era when many people, at least not many of us here, have become so obnoxious and downright rude. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m no little old lady who tends to be a bit of a prude even on her best days.

I like to believe that I have values which, admittedly, are not easy to live by. I’m not offering this up as an excuse for my own shortcomings at this time, I’m simply saying that, given what we’re all up against these days, it’s not easy to be the woman you want to be and believe you should be. Praying hands of an old man with rosary beads

The question has been asked, because I’m a bit curious about this. Ok, call me nosy then. What got me motivated to write this post in the first place is based on the suggestion of our content manager and my thoughts afterwards. She suggested that we try to talk about rituals for a change. My thought was on the personal side. Our content manager didn’t give us any specific guidelines, so the idea was pleasingly an open one for us to explore. Initially, my thoughts were on religion. Smart Shopper written on a wooden cube in a office desk

Even if it seems late in the day, it’s never too late for an old bag to learn new tricks. But the designated writer of this post learnt a hard lesson in life and late in the day too. Fortunately, she’s far from being called an old bag. In conversation with a prospective landlady the other day, I happened to mention that my mission is influenced by having to start all over again. I’m not sure why she asked, but she wanted to know just how old I was. And when I told her, she exclaimed; oh, well, you’re still quite young enough to be starting again. Continue Reading…

The high-rise buildings along Chicago River

I don’t quite know yet how this post is going to pan out. Because I’ll need to rely mostly on memory to regale you with stories on America’s iconic cities. Ok, let’s put it this way, while I’ve been living here all my life, please bear this in mind. The USA is one heck of a large country. Russia, by the way, is the world’s largest in terms of landmass. But most of that land is uninhabitable anyway. Unless you’d like to take a grim tour of Siberia and Chernobyl. And within the world’s busiest and economically successful country are over fifty federal states. Some of us say with great pride; long live democracy and the freedom of speech and all of that.
